* The Hetch Hetchy Water and Power System supplies drinking water, hydroelectric power, and water for industry and irrigation.

* 85% of the drinking water provided to 2.4 million people in the San Francisco Bay Area comes from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir located in Yosemite National Park.

* The water travels more than 160 miles across California by gravity, through a complex system of tunnels and pipelines.

* Hetch Hetchy Reservoir is one of the nation’s premier drinking water sources.

* Drinking water is tested daily to ensure quality and safety.

* Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in 8 miles long; has a maximum depth of 306 feet; and can store up to 117 billion gallons of water.

* O’Shaughnessy Dam is 312 feet above the stream bed and extends 910 feet in a gentle arch from canyon wall to canyon wall.
